Bored = Bad News

I am bored... not that I don't have 40000000 things to do..... BUT I'm not in the mood.... and for some odd reason when I'm bored, I become hungry.... Can anyone figure that one out.... Right now I am trying not to eat useless junk that I don't even want but since I am bored and it is there it looks good.... The Chewy Sweet Tarts already got me, I will not give into the popcorn and nutrigrain bars..... Funniest thing is that they're not even bad for me...but I will be mad later when I don't have the points for something waaaay more delish... like ice cream and of course my newest addiction....teddy grahams and funfetti icing...... What a mess! hahaha K, thanks for letting me get that out.... I can go back to work now :) Have a great day!

Yum to the Um...

I was trying to think of new low point fun lunch ideas, so I googled 2 point lunches and I found this great site! http://weight-watchers-points-recipes.blogspot.com/ I will def. add this to a link on the WW websites that I use everyday section of my blog. I am craving the Turkey Taco Lettuce Wraps... 2 for 3 points!!! http://weight-watchers-points-recipes.blogspot.com/2009/04/turkey-taco-lettuce-wraps-3-pts.html I just might have to whip them up! Anyway it is a great site, it has meal and snack ideas from 0 points all the way up to 8 points along with everything being classified into app, meal, dessert, etc. Just found these too, Black Bean Brownies (2 pts).... sound interesting... all of the reviews were good.. I think I'll have to try! I think it's funny that a couple people say that if they can try the recipe out on the husband and he doesn't notice then it's good stuff! Hahaha...so true... damn picky men! http://weight-watchers-points-recipes.blogspot.com/2008/06/b

Weight Loss Plateau

I have been b/n 142 and 143 for the past month now and I am wondering if I hit a weight loss slump... so I looked it up and found some info.... Here are some suggestions for getting over the hill and I wanted to share :) http://www.healthdiscovery.net/articles/15Plateau_tips.htm I liked this suggestion: 12. Try varying your number of points Do you always eat at a certain number of points per day? Your body gets very efficient at predicting its intake and adjusts itself accordingly. Keep it guessing. Try mixing up the number of points you have...low one day, middle the next, back to low, then high end of your points. 4 things that I will do differently this week: a.) Have egg whites and cheese with my arnolds and laughing cow for bfast instead of a yogurt b.) exercise c.) vary my daily point intake (ex. Monday 19, Tuesday 25, Wednesday 22, etc.) d.) count out chip serving size and only have once or twice this week instead of everyday! haha What are you going to try?????

Another Week....

K, so today I weighed in and was 143.3...how annoying I gained 1.1 pounds...oh well, I guess it happens.... I should be happy though b/c I did run yesterday and I am super sore today and 143 is waaaay better then 160, right?? so with that being said, I'm over it and proud of myself! Until next monday..... here goes nothing... Yesterday's grubbage arnolds 1 laughing cow 1 chips 4 hoagie 8 teddy grahams (I am banning them this week!) 3 Chicken bake 6 cocktails 2 Total: 25 Water: 88 Activity: ran 2.5/walked 2.5

Competition....

My friend went to Ridley Creek today to run/walk the 5 mile trail...this inspired me to get my rear up and run/walk the trail as well. She runs almost all of the trail..b/c of that I was able to push myself to run 1/2 of it :) Woo Hoo...way to go!!! Well anyway.... This brings me to my thought for the day: Competition.... it's such a jeckal/hyde type of feeling. It is such a wonderful, positive motivator to do good things, get in shape, work out, push yourself, do your best at work, be creative, outgoing, etc.... BUT it also can turn pretty ugly as well....when does it take that turn from bringing out the best to unleashing the worst????? When I started to run, I told myself to just take it slow and steady and focus on breathing, the weather, what I'm going to do today, the song on my ipod, ANYTHING other then the time and what mile marker I am on. This was working... I kept using internal positive motivation, "You can do this", "you are doing this", "

Today's Menu....

I figured I would post tonight due to the fact that I am forcing myself to be done eating for the day! I am drinking some tea to hold off my craving for ice cream! Sooooo NOT the same, but what can ya do.... Yogurt 1 pudding 1 toast 3 stuffed mushrooms 3 mac and cheese 3 peanuts 4 chips 1 salad 2 rice 2 potatoes 3 chicken 3 total: 26 Over: 5 Bonus Left: 23

Bad Luck....

So this week, I went to the Phillies game on Saturday and they lost.... then I went to the Flyers game on Tuesday night and they lost and then I went to the Phillies again today and they lost again...What's up with that crap.... Boo to them....or maybe boo to me...I prefer boo to them, it could never be my fault :) Which brings me to another funny thought.... Did you ever think about the superstitious things that people do and believe that it helps teams win games. Perhaps it's the shirt that you wore or the place where you watched the game, maybe the spot on the couch that you sat, or if you took a shower that day, what you ate, who you went to the game with, who you watched the game with, what cup you drank out of during the game, what color your hat is, if someone called you that day, if another team won or lost that day, where you order your food from for the game, what color underwear you have on, if you know someone who "has bad luck" is going to the game, the

Chip-a-licious

Image
The boyfriend found me some new delicious baked chips and I wanted to share. 13 chips for 2 points and they are delicous.... come on they are made by Herr's, how could they not be?!?! They come in Sour Cream and Onion, Cheddar and Sour Cream, BBQ and Plain! Fabulous :) I just had a thought... how good would it be to bread and then bake chicken using the chips as your breading! Hmmm...might have to try that out!

Weighin in is weighin on me...

I hate Sunday night b/c Monday is weigh in... but why should I care so much?? I feel great, look great and should be so proud of myself... so I'm trying to tell myself that the "number" is just a number. It's all about how you look, feel and how your clothes look and feel.....Right?? Right.... I'm trying to convince myself....can ya tell?? :)

You Go Girl!

I saw one of my really good friends this weekend who I haven't seen in about a week and a half and SHE LOOKED GREAT! I could def. tell that she lost weight! She has been doing WW as long as me and she lost right around the same amount as me and you can really see it! It's funny, I guess that it takes a certain amount of weeks before you can see the difference or maybe you should hide in your house for a week or two away from everyone when you diet b/c it seems that unless you don't see someone for a period of time, it's harder to notice the weight loss! But anyway I wanted to say great job to my great friend! I'm proud of you!!

Weekend Grubbage.... why are they always the most difficult??

Where do you go from your goal???

So funny... I just saw this question posted on the blog http://www.ronisweigh.com/ that I read everyday and recently I have been thinking the same thing.... Hi Roni! My question is about maintaining… I have very similar stats to you.. I am 26 years old. I started at 213 lbs over a year ago and now i am at about 141-143, on any given day (you know how that goes) anyway… now that i have moved into maintenance mode- I find it difficult getting out of the weight-loss mindset. I have done well making adjustments like cutting out artificial sweeteners and opting for the higher calorie more natural versions of foods and also eating several smalls meals per day instead of restricting myself like i was before. My point is.. I could wake up every day this week and see 142 on that scale and be "sort of" disappointed that i didn’t lose weight.. even though i don’t want to lose any more weight!! I’m happy at this weight! How can i get my brain to accept that i am doing things the right w

Super Snack

Image
Another one of my bestest girlfriends who is on the WW train as well found a fabulous 2 point snack that I am stealing from her and passing onto you.... She was in the mood for something salty and crunchy and cheesy and yummy so she went to the snack cabinet and found a bag of tostitoes. She calculated the points and saw that 9 chips were 3 points. Well of course like any other chip lover ou t there, 9 just wasn't going to cut it. SO...she decided to bake a 1 point tortilla shell in the oven and make her own chips. She used the La Tortilla Factory soft tortilla shell (they are b/n 8 and 13 grams of fiber) and 2 tablespoons of the tostito cheese dip which is 1 point. The tortilla shell made about 21 chips and the cheese dip was plenty to go around. So I call this one heck of a salty, crunchy, cheesy, satisfying snack :) Enjoy!

1 point Peanut Butter Brownie Cookies

My good friend discovered these in the WW magazine. She made them and I was lucky enough to get to try one....They are fabulous!!! and only 1 point!! That's what makes them even better! Peanut Butter Brownie Cookies 2 1/3 cups low fat brownie mix (such as Betty Crocker) 3 Tablespoons natural style chunky PB (I used not natural) 2 Tablespoons 1% low-fat milk (I used skim) 2 Tablespoons egg substitute Cooking Spray 2 Tablespoons lightly salted dry roasted peanuts chopped ( I used mini choc chips- 2 each cookie) Directions 1. Preheat oven to 3752. 2. Combine brownie mix, PB, milk and egg substitute. 3. Drop by spoonful onto cookie sheet about an inch apart. 4. Sprinkle peanuts or choc. chips onto cookie- pressing gently. 5. Bake 375 for 9 min. or until puffed (25 cookies 1 point) 65 cal, 2.1 fat, 0.5 fib.

H 2 Oh my goodness......

It's funny, in the past several days a couple diff. people asked me how much water I drink a day. When I say 88 ounces, they look at me like what a weird amount. Is that how much you are suppossed to have?? I laugh and try to explain what the container looks like that I sit out on my desk at work or counter at home and literally pour cups out of and chug all day until it's gone..... Since I couldn't explain it, I took a picture. It's funny too, b/c sometimes the cup or glass that I drink out of makes a difference in how easy it is to drink the water. I really, really think that it is such a big help in losing weight or "curbing" my appetite as they say. How do you curb your appetite anyway??? I guess they mean park it or put it on hold... anyway random thought... so here is a picture of my water container and my blue party cup :) Like I'm back in college at a kegger...hahahahha so chug, chug, chug...... cheers to rubbermaid.... LOL

Harry Kalas

Image
What a sad day... Harry Kalas, the longtime Phillies announcer died. Every story that I've ever heard people tell about him has always been so nice, giving, and caring. Just stinks...

Not soooo bad...

So after my holiday week, I gained .2. However, I feel like I gained more... but anyway, enough of that! I hate that sometimes, well alot of the time this diet stuff, weight, what to eat, how I feel, what I should do, shouldn't have done... consumes me! It is so hard not to focus on it, but I can't help it!! I was thinking yesterday that I am going to continue the "dieting" part of this until May 1st, but then as of May 1st, I'm going to encorporate some daily exercise into my life. By then it should be consistently warm outside! There is a track near my house that I will go to and also a beautiful 5 mile hike about 15 minutes from my house, Ridley Creek State Park. I attached the link in case you would like to check out for yourself! http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateParks/parks/ridleycreek.aspx So I go back to work tomorrow, not looking forward to that at all. BUT I cannot complain, due to the fact that I am a teacher and we have 8 weeks left!!! Yup, 8 week

Layered Strawberry Cheesecake Bowl (3 pts/serving)

Image
This dessert was on the cover of Kraft Food and Family magazine and it was pretty lowfat to begin with, but I made it even healthier! It really was delicious and very simple to make. I'm sure you could switch the pudding to your liking as well as the fruit too. Here is what I used: 3 cups sliced fresh strawberries 3 Tbsp. Splenda 2 pkg. (8 oz. each) PHILADELPHIA Fat Free cream cheese, softened 1-1/2 cups skim milk 1 pkg. (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding 2 cups thawed Fat Free COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, divided 2 cups angel food cake cubed 1 square BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate (optional) To make: 1.) COMBINE berries and sugar; refrigerate until ready to use. Beat cream cheese with mixer until creamy. Gradually beat in milk. Add dry pudding mix; mix well. 2.) BLEND in 1-1/2 cups COOL WHIP. Spoon half into 2-1/2-qt. bowl 3.) TOP with layers of cake, berries and remaining cream cheese mixture. Refrigerate 4 hours. 4.) Optional: Melt and drizzle chocolate overtop or

OMG...can this holiday break please end! :)

Okay..... so the past few days have been nothing but an eating festival (not that I'm complaining)!! Wait until you get a load of my last few days of eating.... It is just too hard at the holidays. Not that I think I am eating anywhere close to what damage I could have done in years past, but it doesn't take much pie, cake, cookies and candy to get to your point limit for the day....and that is by around 10 am! haha... but anyway, I hope that you are enjoying your holiday as much as I have been! Back to business tomorrow, but for today Bon Appetit! Friday: Soft pretzel 6 arnolds 1 ham and cheese 3 bite of Jordan's sand 2 wheat thins 2 laughing cow 1 candy 1 taco salad 9 WW ice cream 2 grapes 1 Total: 28 Over 7 Water: 88 Bonus left: 6 Saturday (Catastophe! Zoobilee Zoo

Image
I haven't been feeling great for the past couple of days. It was the weirdest sickness. Started with the boyfriend at the beginning of the week and then I got it in the middle. It was so hard to explain, it was a gross achey, sick to my stomach feeling. No headache, sore throat, runny nose, vomitting, fever... just achey, achey, might get sick at some point feeling. Not fun at all! However, we still managed to go to the Philadelphia Zoo yesterday, it was such a beautiful day! I forgot how much fun going to the zoo can be. It really makes you feel like a kid again and it's nice to take some time to appreciate the little joys of life. My little friend is still too young to fully understand and enjoy the animals, but he sure did love to get down and run around and around and around! He learned a new word yesterday, tur-tle , it was too cute. We spent the day with the boyfriends brother and sister-in-law and their two peanuts. It was a really nice day, I'm so glad that we ended

I'm off work, not off WW!

K, so I've been off for the week and I think I've eaten more junk in the past 3 days that I have eaten in the past two months. I give major props to my girlfriend that manages to say no thanks to her kids and their treats, snacks, candy, chips, dips, cookies, cakes, peanut butter, ice cream, etc. everyday! I'm having a hard time and I've only been home for 3 days! I'm hoping that you just get used to it or I'm in for a LONG summer! haha... With that being said here is yesterday's food (which included lunch out with a girlfriend and the Phillies game with friends at night!) egg whites cheese 2 salad 5 1/4 bbq pork quesadilla 7 1 spring roll 2 Chickies and Petes cheese fries 5 (YYYYUUUUMMMMM!!!!) Cocktails 7 Total: 28 Over: 7 Bonus Left: 21.5 water: 88 ounces And don't worry today already started out with lunch with girlfriends! hahaha... oh well, I am def. enjoying every minute of my week off!

Getting Started

Image
So a few people have asked me recently well how do I start, what do I do, so I've decided to explain the process and re-post my websites that I use. Here you go: 1.) Use http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080207230153AAQ06kr to figure out how many points you are allowed to have daily 2.) You also get an additional 35 points to use throughout the week. However you cannot carry over your daily points. 3.) WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN! A good quote to follow is "You bite it, you write it!" Carry your food journal wherever you go! 4.) Make sure that you measure all of your food , count out serving size amounts and invest in a food scale. I bought one for $5.00 at target. 5.) Tip: Pick foods higher in fiber, they are lower in points. 6.) Use these websites to calculate points and start writing and adding and that's about all there is to it! (Add them to your favorites!) It's a girl thing....

So I started to see a pattern with my weight loss. This is how the month goes (I'm starting the month the week after you know who visits).... 1st week (lose 3-5 pounds) 2nd week (lose 1 pound) 3rd week (lose 5-8 ounces) 4th week (lose 1 ounce if lucky!) haha I guess that's how you can keep up an average of 1-2 pounds a week though, it's funny how it all works out in the end... but anyway this is a great week...so I'm going to enjoy it! So if you feel like you are stuck on the same number or two for a couple weeks in a row...it is normal (unfortunately) but then it all works out in the end! Just stick with it!

Lots of support in little ways...

Yesterday the boyfriend took me out to buy me some new pants! Not only new pants, but new size 8 pants!!! That was so exciting.... He's been so supportive to me throughout this whole journey. He makes dinner most nights (I know, how lucky am I!!) and he will leave out the boxes of whatever he used to cook so that I can count/calc points. He also leaves out the measuring cup so that I can scoop and measure my food before he takes his.... so cute, it's def. the little things that count! He is super supportive and I feel very lucky.... Yummy Laughing Cow Recipes

Image
Laughing cow cheese is delicious and it's only 1 point per wedge!! Here are some yummy recipes that I found and wanted to share. It comes in three flavors, original, herb and garlic and french onion. They are all delicious and taste like a creamier version of cream cheeese. Stuffed Mushrooms Serving Size : 16 3 cup mushrooms 12 wedges Laughing Cow Cheese — Light - Garlic & Herb flavored 1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs Clean mushrooms and remove stems. Chop stems. Unwrap cheeses and place in microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute to soften. Combine crumbs, mushroom stems and cheese. Take spoonfuls and fill mushroom caps. Place mushroom caps filling side up on ungreased cookie sheet. Cook 20 minutes at 400 degrees Farenheit or until stuffing is lightly browned on top. Let cool, then serve. Mushrooms will be juicy. Popcorn!

Image
Too funny. I had the hardest time figuring out how many points my Orville Redenbacher 94% fat free smart pop popcorn was for the WHOLE bag... well apparently I'm not alone.... I was on my favorite blogsite, Roni's Weigh and found this old post of hers: This is one of the most asked questions on the Weight Watchers boards. Why is it so tough calculate points for popcorn? Let me break down the brand I eat. Orville Redenbacher’s Smart Pop 94% Fat Free Butter 2.9oz bag (regular size bag, not the mini or 100 cal pack)According to the bag, a serving size is 3 tbsp unpopped (7 cups popped) there are 2 servings per container which means the bag contains 6 tbsp of unpopped popcorn (14 popped) Nutritional information for 6tbsp unpopped: 240 calories 4 g of fat 8 g of Fiber 4 points Now the bag gives the calorie count for 1 cup popped as 15 calories. If you multiply that by 14 (number of cups in the bag) you get 255 calories for the bag. This still gives you 4 points. So, no matter how yo

Boring

I feel that I've been pretty boring lately. Whenever the computer is not available I am able to think of 100 different things to write about and then when I sit down to write it seems that nothing is coming out... I am just going to give you a couple of my random thoughts.... 1.) A new month.... nothing gives me more joy at work then changing the calendar to a new month. I love each month of the year for a different reason. I didn't even realize that I loved April as much as I do until I started looking through pictures of my 15 month old little friend from last year at this time and noticed that he was in shorts!! I cannot wait, not for shorts, but for the nice weather. It seems to make everyone smile a little bigger. 2.) Spring...When I think of spring I think of...the Phillies (the world fn' champions haha), BBQ's, shorts, sunny days, cool breezes, thunder storms, Easter, flowers, playing outside, resee peanut butter cup easter eggs, spring break, walking the dog, go
